Hearing on Changing Gender on Idaho Birth Certificates

"Since April 2019, Idahoans have been able to request that changes be made to their brith certificates regarding their gender through the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. Initially, citizens under the age of 18 could alter the gender listed on their state issued birth certificate with the consent of only one parent. A change was proposed to the rule on July 3, 2019, requiring that those under the age of 18 also receive a signed form by a licensed medical professional. This slight change made an opportunity for the entire rule to be publicly
reviewed."
