1. Tell us a little about yourself and your family, how long you have lived in the area.:

I'm a 6th generation Idahoan. My ancestors were part of the first 13 families that started Franklin, Idaho, the first city in Idaho in 1860. I grew up on a dairy farm in Preston Idaho and married my 3rd grade sweetheart Janalee who is also from Preston. We have 3 adult children and one granddaughter, and two grandsons that will be born around the first of May. We have lived in Boise for the past 29 years.

2. What is your educational background?:

I have a bachelor's degree in Political Science and minor in Dutch from Utah State University and a Master in Business Administration from Boise State University.

3. What is your occupational background?:

I grew up on the farm my whole life, have a CDL and drove a milk truck for my dad while going through my undergrad work. I started as an intern in the State Controller's Office 29 years ago and have been here ever since.

4. Do you have experience as an elected official and if so, what was your position, and how would you describe your voting record?:

I have served as the Idaho State Controller since Oct 15, 2012. My main votes that I take are on the Idaho Board of Land Commissioners, who have a trust mandate to maximize the financial return for the beneficiaries now and in the future.

5. Please tell us about your activity as a Republican. Have you previously voted for candidates of other parties? If yes, explain.:

I have been a Republican my whole life. While serving a church mission, I even asked my mom and dad to send me an absentee ballot back in 1992 to vote in my first presidential race while I was out of the country. I have never voted for a candidate from another party.

6. What is the purpose of government?:

The primary and essential role of government is to secure individual rights — especially life, liberty, and property. The US constitution was divinely inspired and designed to limit government power.

7. Where do our rights as citizens of the United States come from?:

I truly believe that our rights come from God and not from government.

8. Describe why you are running for this particular office. What are your qualifications? What are your goals?:

I am running to continue advancing transparency in government and maintaining strong financial oversight on behalf of Idaho taxpayers. My focus has always and continues to be protecting taxpayer dollars and ensuring our state government operates efficiently and openly. My qualifications: I started here in the SCO as an intern and have the knowledge and expertise that is necessary for this office. My goals are to continue to improve public access to financial information for all levels of Idaho government, continue to upgrade outdated technology systems, increasing efficiency while reinforcing responsible stewardship of public funds.

9. Describe experiences where you are or have been engaged such as non-profit organizations, clubs, churches, boards, commissions, etc., where you have been of service to others.:

My wife, family and I have served in several community efforts in the Treasure Valley. We have participated in rake-up-Boise for many years. I have volunteered in leadership positions within my church for the past twenty years and continue to do that today. During the past seven years I have assisted my wife as she lead the "Just Serve" organization for the Meridian, Eagle, Star, and Kuna areas. This is a web site to coordinates service projects with individuals and groups who are looking to provide service. I served as the President of the National Association of State Controllers and also as the president of the National Association of State Auditors, Controllers, and Treasurers.

10. Do you describe yourself as fiscally conservative? Please, elaborate.:

If you do a background check there is another Brandon Wolfe that has a more colorful past that sometimes gets tied back to me.

14. Describe how you will make yourself available to your constituents and vote as their representative with FORTITUDE, adhering to the values and answers you have stated above.: I am always open and available to Idahoans and share my email and cell phone, which is part of being transparent and open. Citizens have the right to know and understand where their sacred, hard earned tax dollars are going and I want to continue to help assist with that.
