The KCRCC Stands Against “Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act" Initiative

WHEREAS, The “Declaration of Independence”, in its essential statement of rights that precede the institution of government, states that all human beings are created equal and endowed by the Creator with the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness;

WHEREAS, The Republican National Convention has resolved that the Republican Party has borne witness to these principles, for more than a century and a half, defending life, family, and equal justice under law for all Americans irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, color, sex, or creed;

WHEREAS, The Republican Party, in its 1976 platform, declared its support for the efforts of those “who seek enactment of a constitution amendment to restore protection for the right to life of unborn children”;

WHEREAS, The 2025 Legislature passed Idaho Code, “Title 18 - CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS Chapter 6 - ABORTION AND CONTRACEPTIVES”, which bans abortions, abortifacients, abortion trafficking, as well as no health care professional shall be required to provide any health care service (meaning an abortion or dispensation of an abortifacient drug in this case) that violates his or her conscience;

WHEREAS, The Idaho GOP 2026 “Platform Section 3 - Right to Life” acknowledges that human personhood begins at the moment of fertilization, that the intentional taking of human life through the act of abortion is murder as well as reaffirming support for the sanctity of life from fertilization to natural death, and opposes abortion based on sex selection, convenience, or as a method of birth control;

WHEREAS, The 2025 KCRCC approved of a resolution “Bridging Science, Metaphysics, and Theology: The Case for Life’s Sacred Beginnings at Fertilization” that made a case for life beginning at fertilization instead of conception;

WHEREAS, The potential ballot initiative “Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act” will act to establish a right for abortions up to fetal viability, which is ill defined at best, and to make reproductive decisions regarding one's own body, while disregarding the rights of the unborn (https://voteidaho.gov/initiatives-amendments/); now therefore, be it

Resolved, That the duty of Republicans is to promote the sanctity of unborn lives, defend against pro-abortion measures, and it is the responsibility of the KCRCC to inform their constituents of this abortion ballot initiative; and further be it

Resolved, That the KCRCC precinct committeemen will defend the unborn by participating in opportunities such as town halls, rallies, door knocking, and literature distribution to defeat the “Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act”.

Adopted by the KCRCC July 28, 2026
